Why we celebrate holy communion

Pastor Maria reminded us: even though we are sinners, we are so important to Jesus that He died a sinner’s death just for us. Romans 5:8 says it best — _“While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”_ Communion is holding that truth in your hands. Every time we take the bread and cup, we proclaim His death until He comes.

Prayer of CONFESSION

Today Ps Maria Luphondo preached on Prayer of Confession. Sin creates separation between us and God, but confession restores fellowship. David lived this in Psalm 32:5: “I acknowledged my sin to you... and you forgave.” Confession isn’t groveling. It’s agreeing with God: “You’re right, I was wrong.” And 1 John 1:9 promises that when we confess, He is faithful to forgive and cleanse us. No delay. No probation. Fellowship is restored immediately.

Prayer of THANKSGIVING

We’re called to give thanks not just when life is good, but even when the situation gives us no reason to. Today Ps Maria Luphondo taught on the Prayer of Thanksgiving and how gratitude invites God’s presence, breaks anxiety, and shifts our perspective. Thankfulness isn’t denial — it’s faith. It says, “God, I trust You with this, and I thank You in advance for what You’re going to do."

Prayer of FORGIVENESS

We can’t change what people did, and we can’t force them to apologize, but we _can_ choose not to carry that hurt forever. Today Ps Maria Luphondo reminded us that unforgiveness only keeps _us_ stuck—it punishes us, not the person who hurt us. She took us to Ephesians 4:26, “Don’t let the sun go down on your anger,” and Romans 12:19, “Vengeance is Mine, says the Lord. I will repay.” The real freedom comes when we hand it over to God and decide to forgive, not for them, but for our own peace.
